The Crab Island Information Center is located at 300 Harbor Blvd Suite D, Destin, FL 32541, and the island itself is only accessible from the west end of the island via a narrow sandbar that extends from the coast of Walton County, Florida to Escambia County, Alabama. Things to know before you go to Crab Island

Crab Island is a unique marine preserve located in Florida’s Perdido Key archipelago. The preserve itself is made up of 500 acres of protected waters that are home to hundreds of species of marine life. The waters off of this southernmost island of the Florida Keys are often referred to as the “Coral Triangle” because they are home to more species of living coral than any other area of the world. The preserve is located in the Gulf of Mexico and is only accessible via a narrow sandbar off of Potts Road in Walton County, Florida. To get there, you’ll need to head west on Potts Road until you see a small parking lot on the right side. The entrance to Crab Island is the gate on the left, and from there you can take a small boardwalk trail to the edge of the island where you’ll find a couple of benches for you to sit and take it all in. The preserve is open daily from 9am until sunset.

The specialty dives at Crab Island include exploring the large underwater cave system and seeing rare sea creatures such as lobsters and sponges. Snorkeling tours – The snorkeling tour options at the Crab Information Center in Destin, Florida range from a one-tank tour for beginners to more advanced snorkeling tours that take you out to see reef fish and rays as well as explore abandoned wreck sites that are home to sea turtle nests. The one-tank tours cost between $85 and $135 per person depending on the time of year, and the advanced snorkeling tours cost between $110 and $165 per person depending on the time of year. Fishing tours – The fishing tour options at the Crab Information Center in Destin, Florida range from a half day trip for beginners to a full day trip for advanced anglers who want to catch red snapper, king mackerel, Spanish mackerel and other fish from the Gulf of Mexico. The half day red snapper fishing trip costs between $190 and $270 per person depending on the time of year, and the full day red snapper fishing trip costs between $290 and $360 per person depending on the time of year.
